Wol turns your space into a redwood forest and introduces an AI-enabled owl you can talk with about the forest and its ecosystem. Running on Meta Quest Pro or mobile, it’s a fresh take on learning through play — every conversation with Wol opens a different pathway. It was a collaboration between Liquid City, Niantic, 8th Wall, Inworld, and Meta, pairing Inworld’s conversational AI with 8th Wall’s browser-based webAR.

Process

I joined at early ideation and stayed through launch — shaping the lesson plan and UX flow before leading 3D. As 3D lead I ran asset production, oversaw composition in Blender and 8th Wall, and coordinated the artists.

The three-month run meant levelling up in Blender fast, and optimisation was the hard part: it had to hold up across mobile web AR and web VR, which pushed us toward textured canopy elements and instanced ground meshes.
